Improved Nine Patch

Today wasn’t a sewing day and I wasn’t evening thinking about quilting so imagine my delight when I came upon these little blocks.  Oh my!!!

Improved Nine Patch

I think I’ll be joining up with the Darlene and Christmas Through The Year!

Nothing like stumbling upon little happiness blocks, right friends? They make the best gifts. Happy. As a matter of fact, I think that’s what we’ll call this one. Little Happiness.

The Rack!

Happy New Year! Today I’m sharing my very first quilt rack. It was purchased on an outing with some treasured friends. I’ll really remember that day. Lunch and the outing. The friends. Kind of a special group of ladies to tell you the truth.

Kanga got this really neat aged bin/bucket [not shown] but as I haven’t done the slightest thing to make it snuggly for her she thinks its useless and I should talk to the paw! Such attitude this one.

Later in the month when my birthday arrived a group of my friends and I spent the day together sewing.  What a delight that was. Lunch and stitching and balloons and omg cake!  It was just the best. A great way to wrap up the year.

And starting this New Year I’ll be with Lori and the gals working on the quilt-along in addition to one other little thing I hope to share soon but as a hint… Rose Marie and Janet and Miriam will all be so pleased I’m applying some determination!

A Sunflower Finish

Hi everyone.  I hope this post finds you enjoying this semi-quiet week between Christmas and New Years.  I’m happy to be able to share one of my hand-pieced blocks now that it’s been gifted.  Happy? Shucks, I’m dyin’ to share!!!

First the view of the Sunflower block after it was quilted but before binding – in the natural sunlight.

And here we are set on-point which is my personal favorite setting.  The binding I couldn’t settle on so in the end I just kept it simple.

I’m really glad I kept going with the Sunflower block.  This one I TOTALLY DIG. It’s my 4th. Blocks 1-3 proved to be the learning ground I needed. The quilting was done at Longarm Quilting by Lynn Graham & Cathy Peters. I call them my friends. 🙂

I wish you to know how very much I appreciate your friendship, kindness and continued support of my little adventures here at LeeHaven. Next up, something new…
